Cécile and Marie-Grace, 1853

Introduced to children in 2011, Cecile Rey, Marie-Grace Gardener and their stories represent New Orleans and Free Blacks during the antebellum period and the 1853 yellow fever pandemic. Renowned authors Denise Lewis Patrick and Sarah Masters Buckey wrote Cecile and Marie-Grace’s stories. Cecile, Marie-Grace and their entire collection were archived in 2014.
