Changes for Nanea

School is about to start up again and Neana hopes that going back will make life seem somewhat normal again. But the war and the attacks on Pearl Harbor have changed everything, including her teacher, Miss Smith’s classroom. The worst part: her best friend Donna is gone. She had to leave Hawaii because the government says she is nonessential. 

Though many things have changed since the attacks, Nanea has been determined to do her part just like her family has. From hula dancing for the soldiers at the USO, babysitting during the Red Cross first-aid class and collecting over 1,500 bottles to help collect and store donated blood. Can Nanea inspire others to do their part for the war effort?
