A Third Childhood Dream Comes True!
A note from our president, CEO and founder, Blake Changnon:
A Third Childhood Dream Comes True!
Last weekend, I had the AMAZING pleasure of meeting and having an in-depth conversation with the American Girl author Connie Porter.
Connie is the author of the stories for the beloved American Girl Historical Character, Addy.
As I have mentioned many times, when I read the American Girl books as a child, I was transported to a world of wonder where characters leaped off the pages and adventures came alive. And Connie’s stories taught me and have continued to teach me some of the most invaluable life lessons I hold today.
Meeting the author whose stories helped shape my childhood was a surreal and heartwarming experience. Connie and I hit it off as old friends, discussing her time writing Addy’s story, her research, her time writing for Pleasant Company and American Girl, and her relationship with fellow author Valerie Tripp and Pleasant Company founder, Pleasant Rowland.
A magical part of this visit was that I also got to connect with Valerie Tripp again. Both Connie and Valerie signed my childhood Addy, Samantha, Molly, Felicity and Josefina dolls and books. It was just a surreal experience.
Thank you for sharing your gift with the world, Connie and for being a wonderful friend! I so look forward to our continued friendship over the years to come. <3
