“Book Buttons are a series of pin buttons focused on the Historical Characters. They were first released in 1995 and discontinued by 2004. The pins are 1.5" in diameter, larger than the similar Grin Pins.

Thirty buttons were available to start, six for each character: Felicity Merriman, Kirsten Larson, Addy Walker, Samantha Parkington, and Molly McIntire. The pin sets were expanded with the releases of Josefina Montoya, Kit Kittredge, and Kaya respectively.

Each pin has an image cropped from the cover of the character Central Series books; Samantha's and Addy's were not updated with new illustrations, and Molly's had the 1989 illustrations.

Initially, pins were distributed free with the purchase of any of the central series books; near the time of the release of Kit Kittredge, pins could be purchased separately in packs of seven for $2 (later packs of eight with Kaya).
