Courtney’s Ranch Popcorn

We are so happy that you have joined us for our next program for our inaugural exhibit, American Girl: 35 Years of Strong Characters

For today’s program, we will be making Ranch Popcorn, a recipe brought to us by one of American Girl’s newest historical characters, Courtney. Her story takes place in 1986.

Today’s recipe can be found online from Taste of Home. The following ingredients and directions make eight servings. We hope you enjoy Courtney’s Ranch Popcorn.

Ingredients

  • 3 quarts popped popcorn

  • 1/3 cup butter, melted

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 tablespoons ranch salad dressing mix

  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes

  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

Equipment

  • 13x9 inch baking pan

Directions

  1. Place the popped popcorn in an ungreased 13x9 inch baking pan.

  2. Combine the all ingredients and pour over popcorn and toss to coat.

  3. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

  4. Serve warm with your family and friends while watching a throwback movie!

Did You Know: Though the first microwave was invented in 1946, the appliance didn’t become commonplace in American kitchens until the 1980’s—a match made in heaven for popcorn, which popped just as well in microwavable packaging as it did on the stove!
