Pleasant Times, Volume 1, Issue 4

“Pleasant Times was rebranded to The American Girls News in 1996 with the launch of The American Girls Club and started the volume numbers again; issues were released bi-monthly and sent to children with a Club Membership. Early editions of this paper were black and white, and it was released in full color by 1997.

This issue discusses how American Girl fans braved a blizzard to meet Connie Porter, author of the Addy Series, as well as a young fan meeting Janet Shaw, author of Kirsten Juneteenth and sharing her story. A special thank you is also noted to fans as Pleasant Company donated $78,000 to the National African American Museum Project at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. The donation represents 5% of all January and February 1994 sales of Addy books, dolls and accessories.” (American Girl Wiki, 2023)
