Josefina Saves the Day
It’s a big day for Josefina and her family. They have traveled to Santa Fe to trade the blankets the family had weaved after they lost their sheep in the flash flood last year. When Josefina finds out that an American wagon and traders will arrive, Josefina is excited! She has never seen or met an American before.
Josefina is surprised when she meets a scout, who travels ahead of the wagon train, named Patrick. Although Josefina thinks Patrick’s manners are strange, she enjoys his presence and likes him. When Papa meets Patrick, he entrusts him with the family’s trade of blankets. But when he leaves town without paying Papa, Josefina is hurt. Then Josefina discovers something that she can use to help her family!
