Felicity’s Surprise
It’s Christmastide in Williamsburg when Felicity and Elizabeth are invited to the Governor’s Palace for a dancing lesson. The girls are ecstatic and honored that they have been invited, especially since Miss Manderly arranged for the girls to attend. When Mother finds out, she promises to make a new gown for Felicity to wear. They decide on a beautiful blue silk, the same one from the doll Felicity admires from the millinery.
It seems that everything is going well until Mother becomes very sick. With Mother sick, Felicity helps care for her and her family, and reluctantly knows that there will be no new gown or opportunity to visit the Governor Palace. Felicity has no motivation to attend the ball with Mother being very sick. But a Christmastide surprise reminds her that her dreams can come true.
