Courtney’s Surprise
Courtney doesn’t care or consider herself a “doll girl,” until she stumbles across a Pleasant Company catalog with a doll on it. These aren’t the typical dolls like Cabbage Patch Kids or Barbie, these dolls looked like real girls. Courtney starts to connect with Molly, a girl growing up in 1944 during World War II. Molly’s father is serving overseas as a military doctor and misses him dearly. Courtney also misses her Dad and wishes they could visit often.
Until just recently, she would spend every weekend at her Dad’s house, but now that he has moved, Courtney only sees her Dad once a month. When she has the opportunity to visit her Dad for a longer holiday visit, she is excited. She’s totally surprised when Dad gives her an early Christmas gift: a Molly doll from the brand-new Pleasant Company.
