Courtney Learns a Lesson
As Courtney starts to design and create her own game at school, she is determined to create a female hero. She’s inspired by the women in her life and the women she looks up to—her Mom, who is running for mayor and the astronaut, Christia McAuliffe, a teacher who is training to go to space. These two role models show Courtney what it means to be bold and take risks.
As Courtney and her class get ready to celebrate the launch of the Space Shuttle Challenge and Christia McAuliffe as the first teacher astronaut in space, they learn of the Challenger explosion. Courtney is upset and as she learns to deal with her feelings, she truly understands the risk of doing something new and the courage it takes to be bold.
